Welcome to historic St. Mary’s Catholic Church - the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary! We’re so excited that you’ve decided to make our parish your new home. Collectively you are part of over 1,200 families here at St. Mary’s, and although we are a large congregation, we’re a tight-knit family full of members with incredible gifts and talents. An image that I liken us to is an orchestra. There are many instruments, many players, but one purpose: to play the music of the composer. At St. Mary’s we consider Jesus the composer, and all of us are asked to play our instrument to His tune – the beautiful tune that changes our world for Christ… won’t you come join us in playing God’s music of love?
The Latin word ‘sacramentum’
means “a sign of the sacred.”
The seven sacraments are ceremonies
that point to what is sacred,
significant and important for Catholic Christians.
They are special occasions
for experiencing God’s saving presence.
We believe that parents
are the primary educators
of children in matters of faith.
Our goal is to help them succeed in that role.
Working under the norms and regulations
of the Diocese of Harrisburg,
we provide organized religious education
during the school year for children
from preschool through grade eight.
